Remember when Halliburton electrocuted American soldiers and poisoned front-line combat troops with their own feces and urine?

Well, now, they’ve done it to the US coastline.

The first fact:

Halliburton completed cementing of the well 20 hours prior to explosion.

The middle fact:

Halliburton also was the cementer on a well that suffered a big blowout last August in the Timor Sea, off Australia. The rig there caught fire and a well leaked tens of thousands of barrels of oil over 10 weeks before it was shut down. The investigation is continuing; Halliburton declined to comment on it.
Elmer P. Danenberger, who had recently retired as head of regulatory affairs for the U.S. Minerals Management Service, told the Australian commission looking into the blowout that a poor cement job was probably the reason oil and natural gas gushed out of control.

Imagine that hundreds of black protesters were to descend upon Washington DC and Northern Virginia, just a few miles from the Capitol and White House, armed with AK-47s, assorted handguns, and ammunition. And imagine that some of these protesters —the black protesters — spoke of the need for political revolution, and possibly even armed conflict in the event that laws they didn’t like were enforced by the government? Would these protester — these black protesters with guns — be seen as brave defenders of the Second Amendment, or would they be viewed by most whites as a danger to the republic? What if they were Arab-Americans? Because, after all, that’s what happened recently when white gun enthusiasts descended upon the nation’s capital, arms in hand, and verbally announced their readiness to make war on the country’s political leaders if the need arose.

Imagine that white members of Congress, while walking to work, were surrounded by thousands of angry black people, one of whom proceeded to spit on one of those congressmen for not voting the way the black demonstrators desired. Would the protesters be seen as merely patriotic Americans voicing their opinions, or as an angry, potentially violent, and even insurrectionary mob? After all, this is what white Tea Party protesters did recently in Washington.

Ariz. governor signs immigration enforcement bill

Well, if you thought that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe ‘Pink Panties’ Arpaio was an embarrassment to law enforcement, you need to update your files to add Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and the reactionary GOP led Az. State Legislature to the role call of infamy.

Until this new law is struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court (which it certainly will be), all Arizona cops are charged to question and arrest anyone who ‘appears to be an illegal alien’ and is unable to produce suitable documentation…

Somehow, this blatant invasion of privacy and clear violation of the Fourth Amendment is to be carried out WITHOUT illegal ‘racial profiling’… Although no one seems to be able to define just what exactly an ‘illegal alien’ looks like (hint: a little grey guy with big black almond eyes or ummm… a Latino!)…

If you want to curtail illegal immigration, you start by slapping substantial fines on the American companies who hire these folks in droves. If there’s no work to be had, there’s no reason to come.

If you want to stop the ugly drug cartel wars along the U.S./Mexican border, the obvious course is to admit that our absurd ‘War on Drugs’ has been an utter failure and to legalise ALL currently illegal drugs. Civilised nations (ie: Northern Europe) treat drug addiction NOT as a crime, but as the public health issue it manifestly IS.

Arizona has done some ridiculous things in its long and checkered history (remember Governor/used car salesman Ev Mecham?), but this new insult to fairness and liberty really takes the cake!

As a former Arizonan, I deplore this giant step backwards. It’s probably worth recalling that we STOLE Arizona (along with California, New Mexico and Texas) from Mexico in the first place! This is OUTRAGEOUS! I AM PISSED!
