how it's done

Whiny, lying little conservative psychopaths need a firm hand. This is how it’s done.

Mitt boosters started screaming FOUL! As soon as this hit the airwaves yesterday. The spot was produced by a pro-Obama SuperPAC. The GOP claims the spot accuses Romney of MURDER and is libelous… and factually incorrect.

The ad features one Joe Soptic who became unemployed and uninsured when Romney’s Bain Capitol closed GST Steel in 2001.

In the spirit of full-disclosure, there are some misleading aspects to the ad, which was produced by Priorities USA Action:

    (1) Mitt Romney had supposedly left the day-to-day running of Bain by 2001. However, he was still listed as CEO and sole owner when GST Steel was shut down.

    (2) The late Mrs. Soptic did have insurance after GST Steel was shut down as she was covered by her own employer, a local thrift store.

    Some due diligence:
    CNN blog:Pro-Obama ad inaccurate

The purpose of the advert, which is inarguably very sad, was NOT to accuse Romney of ‘murder’, but to illustrate his lack of sensitivity toward the average worker, and the effects a factory closure actually has on its employees and the community at large.

So while the ad does play a bit fast-and-loose with the facts, it’s very effective at painting Mitt Romney as another rich white guy who doesn’t care a fig for those who pay the real price of their avarice.

Meanwhile, the Gila Monster SuperPACs continue to pour big $$ into spots accusing that ‘black african radical socialist pretender’ Barack Obama of ‘GUTTING’ the 1996 ‘Welfare to Work’ law of the Clinton era. Need I say that Mr. Obama did nothing of the kind? Oh well:

Charming. And it’s only the beginning of August. ARGHHHHH.

BTW: Furthur on the “Understands” video: Mitt today made yet another unforced error when Romney’s top campaign spokesman totally blew his cover when she said “If they’d lived in Massachusetts, where we have universal health care, his wife needn’t have died”. Exactly.

Bush smelled like disaster, was disaster, is Our Disaster. Mitt smells like Pocky Clypse. Rollerball. And quite overtly. “I don’t care about the poor.” “I never said I didn’t care about the poor.” “Corporations are people, my friend.” “I never said that coporations were people.”

Guy cannot tell the truth ONCE. Freakishly incompetent heir to eighteen million is running a campaign based on bullshit like no one’s ever seen. How many still buy it? Too many. We’re talking National Socialist levels of bullshit, shrouded in ham-handed loud-mouthed know-nothing numbskin make-it-up.

This whole thing is weird. Psychedelic. Everywhere there are Republican Secretaries of State, the final count will not match the exit poll, always in favor of the Republican. In every other state, the final count will match the exit poll. So there’s institutionalized red state election fraud that everyone just kinda knows about, but — ‘what’re you going to do?’ —

They’re willing to Go There. And they’re Going There.

The Future Of Lying. We’re looking at the Future Of Lying. The best that the Hoarding Class has to offer. Super-hair sci-fi demon — “Hardware stuff. Groceries.”

I predict mass death. Really, that’s the choice.

    Although — 61 Cygnus B, am I right? Huh?

Could be anything. Who knows. We got nothing. Slowly scrambling patterns in the Goldilocks Zone.

Willard ‘Mitt’ Romney simply doesn’t HAVE a ‘truth’. I imagine he’s as puzzled about it as anyone is. He wasn’t ready to run… considering he’s been running for 18 years, that is more than a bit ironic.

The taxes, offshore tax-dodge accounts… How could he possibly imagine that it wouldn’t ‘come up’?

Politics aside, Mr. Romney is just not competent to be chief of state. When you pull back the layers, there’s no THERE there.

I could almost feel sorry for him.

    Almost.

I just found this on TPM (posted by Earl Gray) and thought it was worth a re-post:

    Dear Mr. Romney,
We have contacted you now several times regarding your missing tax returns for years ending 2000 through 2011. To date we have only received a partial return for year ending 2010 and a “projection” of taxes for year ending 2011. Unfortunately this is inadequate documentation to evaluate your financial history and allegiances, which are critical to understand your previous behavior.

Given the disappointing Swiss bank accounts and Cayman shell corporations that we have previously discussed, these documents are now critical to better understand your past financial background. This understanding is in turn required in order to make an informed decision regarding your capability to perform the financially sensitive position that you have applied for.

If you have recently released the tax returns for years ending 2000-2011, please accept our sincere apology and we will continue to evaluate your application. If however we do not receive your tax records for the years ending 2000-2011 , we regret that we will be unable to process your application, and unable to consider you for the position for which you have applied.

If this is the case, we want to send our appreciation for your effort and application and encourage you to reapply when you are better able to meet with our admittedly high standards.

    Thank You and Best Regards.

    The American People.

Good re-post Max. I just read the article which prompted that comment: Romney To Obama: Please Stop Attacking My Business Record, Taxes

But alack and alas for Willard. These issues WON’T go away, and I’m rather shocked that he could ever imagine that they WOULD! And it’s killing Mitt’s campaign. It also calls into question the vetting process of the (dwindling) GOP ‘establishment’. Don’t forget that Romney also ran in 2008 but lost to John McCain in the primaries.

His so-called ‘Tax Reform’ plan was immediately shot down as punitive to (what’s left of) the middle class while further lining the well-lined pockets of the extremely wealthy.

Mitt Romney remains largely a cipher. And NOT the sort of guy anybody would like to ‘hang out’ with. His lame attempts at humour only portray him as humourless.

Mitt Romney is a loser. A very rich loser, but a loser nonetheless.
