“By lying, cheating, stealing, smearing, blackmailing, murdering, and twisting the minds of the fearful and ignorant to our own ends.”

Oh yeah, and election fraud and electoral college malarkey.

It’s all they have left. The ideas are as old as the primate line, and no one in their right mind wants to get back down into the Dark Ages. So — they gotta do stuff, stuff to keep it alive.

Stuff nobody with a moral compass can do.

Conservative means Criminal.

    That or sociopathy. But sociopaths aren’t usually dangerous (physically anyway). The pathetic thing is how easily these ‘marks’ are scammed. Anyone who really believes that Fox is in the news business is prime fodder for the Koch brothers and their nefarious friends.

    I sympathise with some Libertarian ideas. But on deeper examination, they always break down. Those with little critical acuity can be fooled with straw man arguments and hillbilly ideas of ‘freedom’ and ‘Jesus’… tch tch tch.

I’m so delighted these paleolithic teabaggers have already faded into barely-recalled history. Really fascinating as a subject of fringe-group sociology, but entirely irrelevant to US politics, except to the extent that they continue digging their own grave and scrabbling the dirt down onto their own festering zombie corpses.

    We should count our lucky stars I guess that this most recent challenge to American democracy has been such a lame one, given the resources they sank into the run-up to the last election.

    But we shouldn’t forget that that they haven’t given up. Not by a long shot. Continued vigilance is required.

    The intresting thing about Texas is the demographics are shifting toward the blue spectrum based on the rapidly increasing Hispanic population. In 10-15 years (based on today’s political perspective) it will be a solid blue state.

    That fact has to be quite upsetting ot our dear dentist….

    Republican senators in the so-called Gang of 8 working to enact comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship argue that repairing the broken system would attract Latino voters to the GOP. As Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) explained during a Sunday appearance on ABC’s This Week, “We are losing dramatically the Hispanic vote, which we think should be ours for a variety of reasons, and we’ve got to understand that.” In November, President Obama “won 71 percent of the Hispanic vote while Mitt Romney won 27 percent.”

    But some Republicans disagree. Responding to the bipartisan framework, Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) echoed the rhetoric surrounding immigrants and Democratic voters throughout the 2012 election and suggested that Hispanics would never vote for Republicans who don’t provide them with government hand outs:

    “It’s amnesty that America can’t afford,” Barletta said Monday. “We have to stop people from coming in illegally. This will be a green light for anyone who wants to come to America illegally and then be granted citizenship one day.”

    “I hope politics is not at the root of why we’re rushing to pass a bill. Anyone who believes that they’re going to win over the Latino vote is grossly mistaken,” Barletta said. The majority that are here illegally are low-skilled or may not even have a high school diploma. The Republican Party is not going to compete over who can give more social programs out. They will become Democrats because of the social programs they’ll depend on.”

    They need the Hispanics. They hate the Hispanics. What to do? I say, they should punish and demonize the Hispanics at every opportunity. Because mebbe them little browns’ll learn from the tough love Goppers are so good at givin’, and come around to the Teabag way o’ thinkin’.
