Well, when you live in a place called “Gobbler’s Knob”, you’ve already got a couple of strikes against you – But Phil did NOT see his shadow this morning, so supposedly we will have an early spring.

It’s a German thing, well suited to eastern Pennsylvania. The ancient pagan custom originally had a surly badger or a bear fill in for the easier going American groundhog (Marmota monax). Either way – clearly – he won’t go hungry!
