Tom Swift!!

As always, a New Worlds exclusive release –

Radical Rules

“Ryan Radic starts his first year in college by being dumped, humiliated, and kicked out of school for something he didn’t do. Hiding out in the physics department basement, he makes a discovery that will change his life – and his love life – forever.”

This is my sixth screenplay, based on a kid I knew in high school named Christopher Gecik. He was the only Jewish kid (and I was the only Atheist kid) in one of the top Catholic prep schools on the east coast. We were both there on scholarships, and we used to sit out in front of the chapel during mass and talk science. He worked in the cafeteria every day, and cleaned hallways in the afternoon.

Christopher Gecik, and a little Tom Swift.

Congrats again. It kills me how you can be this prolific. Maybe ’cause you started before you were half a century old?

There was a very confusing albino man who was also an unofficial resident of my former university. I first met him when he hopped cafeteria lines while I was attending a summer training camp for competitive public speaking. Around 13 months later, when I actually started classes at that same college, he could be seen saying random things to random people on the quad, turning up unexpectedly for one day only in each of various classes, and meeting his basic nutritional needs by inserting himself wherever he pleased in cafeteria lines.

Because of his pure white hair and bright pink complexion, he stood out in a way other collegiate stowaways might not have. I only attempted to converse with him twice, on both occasions being met with jibberish the likes of which only a Glenn Beck fan could applaud (not that this guy was a right wing nut job, just every bit as nutty.) Later I wondered to what extent he was truly crazy and to what extent his bizarre behavior was a defense against any real confrontation about his freeloading lifestyle. Later still I wondered what happened to the guy, because a credible source once told me he dropped out before I started there, but it was around the middle of my junior year the familiar yet ghostly figure stopped turning up at campus events and cafeteria lines. Several of my contemporaries on that campus remember him, but no one even seems to know his name today. I truly wonder whatever became of this guy who was literally the whitest of all of us to study alongside Matt Hale.

Just found out I made the cut at a very big contest with Mechanical Man. I’ve never even made a dent in this one before. Gratifying.
