By The Fist Of Grayson
We shall be avenged.
Ultra-American, fearless, fair. I do so love him.
Prominent conservative media critic Dan Gainor has offered $100 to the first member of Congress who punches “smary [sic] idiot” Alan Grayson (D-Fl.) in the nose, reports Media Matters. When fellow conservative Jim Geraghty responded (via Twitter) that Gainor should offer that $100 to Grayon’s opponent instead of “financ[ing] violence,” Gainor tweeted that he was joking, although he would “love to see the video.”
The outburst was prompted by comments that Grayson made on the House floor last night regarding unemployment: namely, that Republican lawmakers are “taking food out of the mouths of children” and “trying to revive the America of desperate straits and cheap labor” by blocking the passage of legislation that would extend unemployment benefits. Gainor tweeted that Grayson is “a caricature of a Congressman,” in addition to offering cash for a physical assault on him.
Gainor is the vice president of the Media Research Center, a $6 million-a-year organization that has been praised by Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Newt Gingrich, and he is often cited, interviewed and otherwise taken very seriously by Washington Post ombudsman Andrew Alexander.
But Grayson is not one to back down from a media brawl. He told HuffPost: “I think he’s overlooking something important: I punch back.”
full house it seems.

The Republican filibuster was finally BROKEN today, and the benefits bill will almost certainly pass tomorrow!

raison detre: Very observant! There are apparently only like 5 people on the entire House floor! In a LOT of these little House/Senate ‘pronouncements’ that we see on the news (both Dem and GOP), there’s NOBODY THERE! Purely for ‘ink’ and ‘the base’… That’s American politics! ;-}

Well… I listened to Ed Shultz a lot on Radio America, and he’s has some credibility to Middle America as a real ‘meat and potatoes’ kind of guy…
The very idea that Newt (‘Slimy Salamander’) Gingrich has ANY credibility after the DISASTER he engineered in 1994 (you may recall the ‘Contract On America’)… and his massively hypocritical personal failings (after lambasting Clinton’s pecadillos*)… Well, it only shows the UTTER BANKRUPTCY of the right-wing GOP ‘ideas’…
I (tried) to watch Candy Crowley’s CNN “State of the Union” show last Sunday morning as she gamely attempted to interview GOP Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell… TALKING POINTS 1-2-3-4! (‘but what if…’) TALKING POINTS 1-2-3-4… (‘but what do you say to…’) TALKING POINTS 1-2-3-4… the weasel spent a whole hour saying ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except. ‘Democrats spend money’, ‘Americans don’t want Health Reform’, ‘Democrats destroy America’… and (did I say?) ‘Democrats spend money’… It was DISGUSTING.
* if a desert peccary and an armadillo got together… voilá PECADILLOS! ;-}

BTW – I have a very poor record at prognostication, and I usually don’t underestimate the stupidity of the American people… but I have a sneaking suspicion that Democrats might do FAR BETTER in the mid-term elections than most ‘pundits’ predict. I guess we shall just have to wait and SEE…

byronius: It’s become quite clear to me that the economic recession has served as an irrational intensifier of racial/ideological divides.
Some economically ‘challenged’ white folks of ‘certain’ leanings seem to believe that money they are no longer getting MUST in fact be going SOMEWHERE… and in delusional leap of ‘reason’ imagine that that ‘somewhere’ is fact to government ‘entitlements’ to so-called ‘minorities’… It’s really a shocking twist of the facts, but perhaps understandable to people of limited IQ and overblown self-worth…
And thus we get these (hopefully) groundless ‘death threats’…
ALL OF THIS is perhaps MUCH closer to the sentiments of “The Clansman” than we might comfortably like to suppose…

I’m STILL trying to get over that scene where the portrayed South Carolina ‘Legislature’ is a-brawl with gnawed fried chicken haunches, smelly feet and whiskey flasks… (but where’s the line of boys bringin’ in the WATERMELONS??)
It would only seem reasonable (at least in South Carolina [SHEEESH!]) if you replaced the black-face (white) clowns in the film with the ACTUAL white clowns…

Oh and how true that is. SC is a primate circus.

byronius: was the 1861 secession REALLY such a bad idea?
(S.C. being after all, the first to secede and where the rebels began the Civil War at Charleston)
We’d have NOT just ONE, but TWO areas of immigration ‘issues’…
HOPELESS IDIOTS!

To follow up… WHAT if we’d just left the South to ‘die on the vine’ as it were? No WAR… just economic SUFFOCATION!? I KNOW cotton prices were lucrative, but NO industry, NO infrastructure… NO SCIENCE! No UNDERSTANDING or IMAGINATION.
I suspect that by 1880… the issue might have been DECIDED anyway… NOT by force, but by sheer SUPERIOURITY.
But then again, maybe it was ‘written in the stars’ that America must ATONE for its ‘original sin’…
There’s a very interesting ALTERNATE history yet to be written here methinks!
Last year, Texas’ Governor threatened AGAIN to SECEDE… I say GO FOR IT you idiot… we really WON’T miss the ARMADILLOS! ;-}

My liberal aunts live in Texas. Can’t abandon them.
Give ‘em Alabama.
Comment on July 22, 2010 @ 5:24 pm
byronius: I know… Well, maybe we could just annex Austin… (Sam Houston BTW was a BIG Union man!) Alabama? No problem… and Mississippi TOO…
But I LIKE New Orleans! THAT we need to KEEP!
Comment on July 22, 2010 @ 5:29 pm
Besides… we just offer a 180 day ‘free passage’ deal… for ALL of those in the South who can be certified as ‘reasonably sane’…
But Then… they’re on their OWN! GOOD LUCK YOU ARMADILLO FUCKERS!…
I’m getting sort of MEAN, aren’t I? But the point is WELL made I think! ;-}

I can’t resist… would we really CARE about the South in the 20/21st centuries without our gluttony for OIL?
byronius: I KNOW you KNOW about this… would we REALLY be worse off withOUT ‘Halliburton’?
Fake WEALTH? Mythical BUCKS?… OPEC ass-licking? National SUICIDE?
They CALL it COMPLEX, but it all REALLY comes down to two or three THINGS… DON’T iT?

It’d be easier if they weren’t relentlessly trying to kill off everything green and good in this world.
What were you trying to say? That you ‘hate’ those goddamned …?
