Shocking
I just watched a shocking new video of right-wing activist Andrew Breitbart.
Breitbart is best known for using highly misleading video “hit pieces” to smear progressives, and his videos are shown widely on Fox.
Given that, you’d think he’d be more careful about what he’d say on tape. Guess again.
Check out this revealing video of Breitbart that MoveOn.org just obtained:
That is one revealing tape. Didn’t he realize he was being recorded?
Well. That’s the end of the Short Unhappy Life Of Andrew Breitbart. I hear Long John Silver’s is hiring for day shift manager.

The creativity of this little clip aside, if there was any justice (or any brain cells among the audience for that matter) the crowd should have erupted into hoots of derisive laughter the moment that this idiot stood in front of the “Accuracy in Media” backdrop.

Actually, I found this clip to be almost as juvenile as the dumbshit stuff we regularly see from the Far Right… It’s a bit distressing to me that MoveOn would put this 5th grade level chop-job out there… Jeremy MacKinnon (;-}) does MUCH better work!
Sorry… Three demerits to MoveOn.org… No Sale.
Breitbart doesn’t NEED any help from us! What he actually SAYS is FAR more ridiculous than this! He’s ALREADY dead meat, right along with his pal Mark Williams…
It must be stated for the record however, that Breitbart’s hatchet-work WAS effective in bringing ACORN to an end with his famous ‘pimp tape’ fabrication!
Guys like Breitbart are in reality a real BOON to the Left IF it’s used properly! (and NOT like THIS!) Most Lefties have more than and 8th grade education and they should damn well USE it! ‘Nuf said!

I think you’re missing MoveOn’s point. They’re obviously not attempting to fool anyone, just showing the absurdity of accepting for truth what a given video seems to say when not digging into the possibility that it may have been edited to suit a particular agenda (IOW, committing an act of journalism). I think it was pretty funny, and Breitbart certainly deserved it.
OF COURSE, Mr. MacKinnon’s work is far superior. He is a serious filmmaker after all.

Max: I beg to disagree. I GOT the point, I just thought it was a poor one. MY rebuttal point is that Breitbart is clownish enough all by HIMSELF. Breitbart took a few steps too far into the twilight zone of hate with his personal demonisation tactic and it BACKFIRED. Ms. Sharrod handily WON this round of the ‘culture wars’! And my highest respects and kudos to her for her demeanour throughout what must have been a real whirlwind of a week! Keep it up Shirley!
I’ll also add my humble apologies to the young Mr. MacKinnon for even an oblique association with such amateurish junk! ;-}

I humbly disagree with your disagreement. Though you, a reasonably intelligent human being - to say the least - can see easily that Breitbart is a manipulative clown, much of the media and, regrettably, the Obama administration itself, seems to be slow to catch on to this obvious fact, so MoveOn feels obligated to club them over the head with this bit of satire to make the point crystal clear. Whether or not it’s successful in this aim is debatable, but the need is clear.
Breitbart, along with Fox News, is already trying his hardest to spin this as an indictment of the Obama administration, the NAACP, etc., anyone but themselves. Their watchers are dumb enough to fall for it, so mockery of this sort is exactly what’s required (in my ever so humble opinion that is probably not worth the pixels it occupies).

I thought the video quite bitingly sarcastic.
Mr. Breitbart won’t suffer at all — he’s now established his conservative credentials, so much so that he’s headlining an RNC event. We’re so polarized now, there are no consequences whatsoever for such behavior. For the GOP, it’s a requirement.
Republicans do not generally self-police, ever. Mark Williams was only ousted because of internal squabbling between Teabag Leaders.
Mordor rewards orcs for acting like orcs.

OK. I’ll quit grousing about the clip… clearly I’m outvoted here… And being a good democrat (small ‘d’), I call Uncle! ;-}
I just now HEARD about the Steele/Breitbart co-appearance for the RNC… Stunningly stupid at first blush, but byronius is probably right… I’m picturing the flying monkeys flying (in perfect formation of course) out of the Wicked Witch of the West’s lair!
Dorothy:“Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore!”
Toto: “Arf! Arf-Arf-Arf!” (”No Dot, we’re EXACTLY in Kansas!”)

I complete agree with your unwillingness to disagree with me further. Worth re-posting one of my favorite pics:

Max: NO gloating! It’s not polite! ;-}
Clearly, the poor guy in the ‘toon isn’t going to be getting much sleep for a LONG time!

I won’t mention anyone in particular, but I find I can’t help but put a face to that empty circle.

This is interesting…
We will soon get to see if the Republican party is remotely familiar with the concept of shame. If Mr. BrightEdit is not dis-invited from said event in short order then it is clear that they know. no. shame. whatsoever. I wouldn’t put any money on them suddenly growing a conscience.

Here’s the article from TPM, who broke the story:
Talking Points Memo (TPM): RNC Beverly Hills event starring Steele and Breitbart
I will be absolutely FLABBERGASTED, AGHAST and DISCOMBOBULATED if this lineup stands! Just the ‘co-stars’ running for office will certainly DEMAND a change! Won’t they?
We already KNOW that Republicans have no SHAME… but political sense?… And what if in the machinating minds of ‘the controllers’ THIS makes SENSE???

Max: Aw FUCK! You SCOOPED me!… I think it’s time for me to quit while I’m behind! ;-}

I do see your point, Sky. Perhaps I just misunderestimate the current population of US primates.

Or not.

Let’s take a deep breath and a step back for just a tick:
What we’re really seeing here over the past several weeks is just the BEGINNING of the ramp-up to the November mid-terms…. Easily as contentious as the ‘94 elections which swept Newt Gingrich and his ‘Contract On America’ acolytes (and that’s a kind description) into power… and paralyzed the U.S. Government.
I only expect to see the heat turned UP from here! I think we’ll certainly witness some outrageous statements from the Left, but watch for absolute MINDLESS HYSTERIA from the right! Just wait and see!
Tea Party
Racism
Immigration
BP/Gulf spill
Afghanistan (watch for an upcoming post at a New World near you)
Finance Regulation
Taxes
Taxes
Taxes
Spending/Deficits/Debt
Jobs
Jobs
Jobs
…
Jobs
On the Jobs front, we have a serious problem. The ’stimulus’ HAS helped, but not enough and not fast enough… NOBODY’S talking about a ‘V-shaped’ recession any more. Unemployment looks to remain HIGH for the near future. Not good.
However, on the other issues, I think we of the Leftish persuasion have some cause for HOPE. Many of the blatant over-steps of the Far Right have exposed their extremism to many reasonable folks in the Middle…
Suffice it to say that America has ISSUES…
We shall see… we shall see…
And don’t you DARE FORGET TO VOTE!!

Three things drive the ugly kind of capitalism that the right is trying to cement into reality. Capitol in the way of cash, supply in the way of resources, and labor. They have the cash - 99.9% of the wealth in 0.5% of the people. They have the supply - public lands and waters (BP in the gulf, logging, mining and ranching using public lands. Now they have laid siege on a quarantined labor market. No wonder they cum all over themselves. THis is an orgy that far surpasses any that Caligula even dreamed of.
Oh, but I neglected to mention the first wave of assault on labor - bestowing the yoke of ignorance, the myth of greener grass if you just pull hard enough long enough, and fear of the whip.

Cat-eyes: Ah yes, the good old ‘carrot and stick’ method of ‘employee relations’… nauseating, ain’t it?
Might as well just drop your knickers right now and ‘present’ like a mandrill… ’cause you ARE going to be fucked in the ass… repeatedly.
And (of course) the whip… never forget the whip!
Sorry… I’m a pretty much a ‘meat and potatoes’ kinda guy… Not really INTO corporate S&M.
